Bristol Hosts Softball Tournament; Is All About Girl Power

Bristol Mayor, Ellen Zoppo-Sassu, had the special honor of delivering the welcome speech at the opening ceremonies of the 2018 Eastern Regional Girls’ Softball Tournament, held at the Giamatti Little League Training Center, on July 21, 2018.

"Bristol is all about Girl Power", said Mayor Zoppo-Sassu, the first female ever to serve as Mayor of the City of Bristol.

A veteran softball mom, the Mayor encouraged the players and their families to remember that, "while the days are long, the years are short."

We wish all of the teams the best of luck and hope you enjoy your stay with us!

Bristol DTC Volunteer Day at For Goodness Sake

The Bristol Democratic Town Committee was proud to host a volunteer event at For Goodness Sake, Inc., on June 30, 2018.

Bryan Dumelin and Josh Medeiros move the heavy stuff.

Many of our members showed up and chipped in, getting dirty and dusty in the FGS warehouse, and helping to foster FGS's worthwhile mission.

FGS is a local non-profit organization that provides direct aid, such as furniture and household goods, to individuals and families who are making the transition from homelessness and crisis situations to independent living.

FGS accepts donations.  They encourage you to drop off your household items at the warehouse, located at 273 Riverside Avenue in Bristol.  For detailed information about how you can help, check out their website.

Democrats Lead the Charge

Democratic Mayor, Ellen Zoppo-Sassu, and our Bristol City Councilors are leading the charge

on improving government efficiency, cutting costs intelligently, and putting some additional money into the City's coffers.

This Bristol Press article discusses recent changes made by the administration.  Among these initiatives, the City has consolidated management-level positions, resulting in cost savings. They brokered a deal to provide building inspector services to Plainville, which is a new source of revenue for Bristol.
