Honoring Andre Dorval - Probate Judge , Thomas O'Brien - 40 years serving Bristol, John E. Smith - Board of Finance, Christopher Wilson - Board of Ed.,
The Bristol Democratic Town Committee is hosting a Recognition event to honor long-time Democrats. The event is scheduled for Thursday, June 15 from 5-8pm at Luna's, 360 King Street.
"The Bristol community has been the beneficiary of countless years of public service from these gentlemen," said DTC Chairman Ken Rasmussen-Tuller. "We hope that everyone will join us in celebrating them and acknowledging their contributions."
Andre Dorval served as Probate Judge for 26 years. Previous to that, he was an active member of the Democratic Town Committee in addition to his local law practice and role as a trustee at St. Ann's Church.
Thomas O'Brien has been involved in local politics for over 40 years, starting with serving as a City Councilman, then as a member of both the appointed and elected Board of Education for a number of years, where he served as chair of Personnel and Finance committees.
John E. Smith is completing his final term on the Board of Finance after more than a decade. In addition to the work guiding the city's finances, he also served as liaison to the majority of the school building committees, culminating with the opening of the Memorial Boulevard School transformation to the Bristol Arts & Innovation Magnet School and the Rockwell Theater.
Christopher Wilson has been a passionate supporter of Bristol education for decades, serving almost a decade as Chair during the time when the Board transitioned to K-8 and sold three elementary schools, demolished another to rebuild and renovated the Boulevard. He has also served on the Bristol Business Education Foundation and is active at Prospect United Methodist Church.
"Bristol is richer for the selfless contributions of these men," said City Treasurer David Preleski. "We need more people to continue to step up and serve in the way that Andre, Tom, Chris and John have."
Tickets are $40 and are available online at the Bristol Democratic Town Committee Facebook page or website (www.bristolctdems.us) or by calling 203-509-4295. There are also opportunities for program book ads.
